Making it a point to keep my eyes on what is going on in the movie industry I present to you, the Salt Lake Theaters series -- a collaboration of Salt Lake City Theaters by which they show the films they bring to them by the Bollyworth, the Independent and the Gateway.
Covering 2004 to 2012 they have a number of popular titles on their list -- and two that are from the 2009 which have yet to make it to Utah for general release -- Love Is All Around, which has just received its first theatrical run here in Salt Lake, and Whitney. So if you love romantic comedies check out the Salt Lake Theaters series for a few fun films that are worth your time.
Directed by: Bill Condon
Based on: The Novel by: Abigail Breslin
Starring: Jesse L. Martin, Laura Linney, John Mahoney, Margot Robbie, James Marsden, Imogen Poots
From the Wide World of Art, it's the first film based on The Notebook, a novel by Nicholas Sparks and starring the perfectly married guy team of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.
From what I understand you don't really care for him, why don't you watch one of his films?
You have to give the ghost writers credit, because apart from The Lucky One, which I didn't see, the rest of his films are perfect escapist romances.
So is there any other romantic comedy that tickles your fancies?
I'm going to say Yes, to everything.
I am a big fan of romantic comedies -- having been an on again off again romantic I've always kept my eye on what is going on in the genre.
Mostly I liked Remember Me (2004) by Ron Howard, which stars Colin Firth and the always reliable Amanda Bynes.
What's your favorite romantic comedy?
I enjoyed Love is All Around, because the events in that film are the worst things that could happen, the two people who get together and those difficulties that occur to them. My favorite romantic comedy is Pretty Woman (1990), because the women are in total 0b46394aab
