U4GM - 6 Event-Triggered Items in Elden Ring and How to Unlock Them

Elden Ring thrives on secrets and layered mechanics, with many of the game’s most coveted rewards locked behind specific in-game events. Whether tied to a questline, a world change, or a boss defeat, event-triggered Elden Ring items offer unique advantages and add depth to your journey through the Lands Between.

From my personal experience playing on PC, I missed a few of these items during my first playthrough simply because I didn’t follow certain NPC paths or trigger world events in the right order. After some trial, error, and research, I came back in New Game+ and managed to unlock them all. If you're looking for shortcuts, there are also reliable ways to buy Elden Ring PC items safely from trusted stores.

Below are six event-triggered Elden Ring items you won’t want to miss, along with how to unlock each one.

1. Malenia’s Hand (After Defeating Malenia)

This is one of the most iconic Elden Ring items, a reward only granted after defeating Malenia, Blade of Miquella—arguably the game’s toughest boss. Her Remembrance can be traded for the Hand of Malenia katana, known for its fast bleed build-up and high damage.

To unlock it, you must reach the Haligtree, beat Malenia, then trade her Remembrance with Enia at Roundtable Hold. I wasn’t ready during my first run, but in NG+, I built a bleed-focused character and finally brought her down. For those who prefer not to grind through her, you can also buy Elden Ring PC items like the Hand of Malenia from a verified trading platform.

2. D’s Twinned Armor Set (Event with Fia)

This armor becomes available only after completing D’s and Fia’s intertwined quests. You’ll need to advance Fia’s story far enough until she kills D (or his brother does) and places his armor on his body. Only then can you pick it up.

The event unfolds naturally if you speak with both NPCs consistently and revisit Roundtable Hold after major milestones. I initially missed this by progressing too quickly without talking to Fia—learned the hard way to pace NPC stories.

3. Radahn’s Greatswords (Via Remembrance of the Starscourge)

Defeating Starscourge Radahn unlocks the option to trade his Remembrance for his colossal greatswords. This event also drastically changes the landscape—causing the crater in Limgrave that leads to Nokron.

The trigger here is defeating Radahn during the Festival of Combat, an event you can initiate by progressing Ranni’s questline or reaching Altus Plateau. I remember cheesing Radahn with Spirit Ashes in my first run, and his swords helped me dominate PvP for a while afterward.

4. Mending Rune of the Death-Prince (Questline Completion)

To unlock this item, which allows for a unique ending, you must complete Fia’s full questline—including fighting Lichdragon Fortissax. You’ll receive the Mending Rune after her death if all steps are correctly followed.

This rune completely alters the game’s final outcome. I missed it during my first ending and had to replay everything in NG+. It was worth it—the Death-Prince ending offers a new twist to the Lands Between's fate.

5. Dung Eater’s Seedbed Curses & Oath of Vengeance

The Dung Eater storyline is disturbing but unlocks powerful items like Seedbed Curses and the Oath of Vengeance Spirit Ashes. You need to unlock the Subterranean Shunning Grounds and feed the Dung Eater multiple Seedbed Curses to progress his quest.

Only through this sequence will his armor and ashes become available. His ashes were a game-changer for me during endgame boss fights. If you’re playing on PC and don’t want to hunt Seedbed Curses yourself, some players buy Elden Ring PC items from shops offering questline rewards.

6. Seluvis’s Puppet Summons

Seluvis offers Spirit Ashes of his "puppets" only after you complete certain steps in his shady questline. You must give him a Seluvis Potion and choose the right NPC to drug, or use trickery to get him to part with the summons.

His puppets—especially Dolores and the Finger Maiden Therolina—are rare and powerful. I personally chose to betray Seluvis late in his quest, which locked me out of his shop, so I made sure to revisit his storyline properly in NG+ to get everything.

Event-triggered Elden Ring items aren’t just about stat boosts—they enrich your understanding of the game's lore and provide meaningful choices. Many of these can be permanently missed if you don't follow certain steps or progress too fast.

If you’re short on time or want to experiment with high-end builds without replaying the game repeatedly, you can buy Elden Ring PC items from secure sellers. Just make sure the platform you use offers trade protection and delivers items without risk.

That said, unlocking these items through gameplay is incredibly rewarding. It’s about the journey as much as the reward, and Elden Ring delivers both in full.
