The Rules of Bridge Belote
Bridge belote is a card game for four players, who form two teams of two. The players sit across from their partners and face their opponents. The game is played with a 32-card deck, consisting of the cards from 7 to Ace in each suit (spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs).
The Deck and the Teams
The deck is shuffled and cut by the player to the right of the dealer. The dealer then deals five cards to each player, starting from their right and going counter-clockwise. The top card of the remaining deck is turned face-up on the table. This card determines the potential trump suit for the round.
The trump suit is the suit that has a higher value than the other suits. The cards in the trump suit are ranked as follows (from highest to lowest): Jack, 9, Ace, 10, King, Queen, 8, 7. The cards in the other suits are ranked as follows: Ace, 10, King, Queen, Jack, 9, 8, 7.
The teams are decided by drawing cards before the game starts. The players with the highest cards form one team, and the players with the lowest cards form another team. Alternatively, the players can choose their partners by mutual agreement.
The Dealing and the Bidding
After the first deal of five cards, each player has a chance to bid for the contract of the round. The contract is the minimum number of points that a team must score in order to win the round. The points are calculated based on the cards won in tricks and any bonus points for special combinations.
The bidding starts from the player to the right of the dealer and goes counter-clockwise. Each player can either accept or pass on the trump suit offered by the face-up card. If a player accepts, they become the taker and their partner becomes their helper. They must then try to score more points than their opponents in order to fulfill their contract.
If all four players pass on the first round of bidding, a second round of bidding takes place. In this round, each player can either pass again or propose a different trump suit or a no-trump contract. A no-trump contract means that there is no trump suit for the round and all suits have equal value.

The bidding ends when three players pass consecutively after a valid contract has been proposed. The player who proposed the last contract becomes the taker and their partner becomes their helper. The face-up card is then added to the taker's hand and they must discard one card of their choice face-down.
The minimum number of points for each contract is as follows:
Contract
Points
Spades
80
Hearts
90
Diamonds
100
Clubs
110
No-trump

The Gameplay and the Scoring
After the bidding, the dealer deals three more cards to each player, so that everyone has eight cards in their hand. The taker then starts the first trick by playing any card of their choice. The other players must follow suit if they can, or play any card otherwise. The trick is won by the highest card of the suit led, or by the highest trump card if any. The winner of the trick leads the next trick, and so on until all eight tricks are played.
The points for each card are as follows:

The total number of points in the deck is 162. The last trick is worth an extra 10 points, making the total 172. The taker's team must score more than half of the total points (86 or more) in order to win the round. If they fail, they are said to be "beloted" and their opponents score all the points of the round.
In addition to the points from the tricks, there are also bonus points for special combinations of cards, called "announcements". These are:
Belote: A King and a Queen of the trump suit, worth 20 points.
Tierce: A sequence of three cards of the same suit, worth 20 points. The highest tierce is A-K-Q, followed by K-Q-J, Q-J-10, and so on.
Quarte: A sequence of four cards of the same suit, worth 50 points. The highest quarte is A-K-Q-J, followed by K-Q-J-10, Q-J-10-9, and so on.
Quinte: A sequence of five or more cards of the same suit, worth 100 points. The highest quinte is A-K-Q-J-10, followed by K-Q-J-10-9, Q-J-10-9-8, and so on.
Four of a kind: Four cards of the same rank, worth 100 points for Jacks or Nines, and 150 points for Aces, Tens, Kings, or Queens.
The announcements must be declared by the player who holds them before playing their first card in the round. The player must show their cards to prove their announcement. If both teams have announcements, only the higher one counts. If they are equal, the taker's team wins. The announcements are added to the points from the tricks at the end of the round.
The Tips and Tricks of Bridge Belote
Now that you know the rules of bridge belote, you might be wondering how to improve your skills and win more games. Here are some tips and tricks that will help you become a better player:
How to Assess Other Players' Cards
A key skill in bridge belote is to be able to estimate what cards your opponents and your partner have based on their actions and signals. This will help you make better decisions on what to play and what to expect.
Some clues that can help you assess other players' cards are:
The face-up card: This card gives you information about the potential trump suit and the strength of your hand relative to it. For example, if the face-up card is a Jack of spades, you know that spades are likely to be the trump suit and that you have a strong hand if you have other spades or high cards in other suits.
The bidding: The bidding tells you what contract each player is willing to take or pass on. For example, if a player accepts a low contract like spades or hearts, they probably have a weak hand or a good trump suit. If a player proposes a high contract like no-trump or clubs, they probably have a strong hand or a balanced distribution.
The gameplay: The gameplay tells you what cards each player has played and what they have left in their hand. For example, if a player leads a low card of a suit, they probably have more cards of that suit or want to get rid of it. If a player plays a high card of a suit, they probably have f
